New paper published mapping repair failures in natural gas distribution pipelines

About the research

We used utility-reported data to map almost 10,000 locations where a gas leak was detected after a repair took place. We found that: (1) repair failures highlight the benefits of energy transitions, (2) repair is more cost-effective than replacement, (3) we can improve the effectiveness of repairs, and (4) data transparency enables smarter climate policy.
